Why Surrey and Sussex?

The North and South Downs are grassy, chalk hills that offer unique ecosystems and beautiful views over the whole of Surrey, Sussex and Kent. They rise in east Hampshire and continue parallel about 50 miles apart, with the South Downs ending at Beachy Head near Eastbourne, and the North Downs continuing into Kent, where they become known as the Kent Downs, ending near Dover.

Between these two ridges, the High Weald is also an attractive feature of this area, and is an Area of Natural Beauty in its own right.

The Surrey Hills cycling route allows you to enjoy the local area, and includes iconic landmarks such as Box Hill and Colley Hill. As well as the North Downs Way, there are two other notable routes here, the Greensand Way and the Pilgrims’ Way, which travel all the way to east Kent.

There are numerous pubs to stay in around the local area, and many activities in Surrey and Sussex for staycation holidaymakers. You can access the beautiful river Thames.
